Superior look and feel

Froon explains: ‘As Helcosol wanted an attractive product that combined function and style, we concentrated on the aesthetics of the base and gave it a thorough overhaul. A round base is difficult to stack and therefore cumbersome in retail environments. We thought we’d got around that problem by adding legs to the old model, but it wasn’t the most elegant of solutions. The top side of the new model is flat enough to stack, but round enough to keep that lovely curve.’ The result is a modern parasol base with a superior look and feel. 

Ease of use

Hollarts also zoomed in on the new base’s functionality. ‘Some customers had complained about the fragile castors on the old model, so we designed new ones. The upgraded model can be easily moved tens if not hundreds of metres, making it ideal for use in hospitality venues with outdoor seating,’ explains Froon. 

Fit for the future

Just like its predecessor, the new parasol base is built to last. ‘Helcosol parasol bases aren't single-use items,’ says Froon. ‘They need to be robust and able to withstand the elements over the years. That’s why we incorporated UV shielding into the materials to protect the base from the damaging effects of sunlight and degradation.’

Both Hollarts and Helcosol are committed to sustainability, as Froon explains: ‘We’ve modified the mould used to make the parasol base, so that it can take recycled materials. This was no mean feat, as recycled plastic can contain impurities that cause flow issues. The new mould overcomes this issue and is fully ready for alternative materials when the time comes.’
The base is available in black, white and a new, modified colour: anthracite. The new anthracite colour adds a contemporary touch to the range.
